RAINBOW: You'll always be the center of attention in this tunic with diagonal multi-colored stripes and an airy perforated pattern.
The more colorful, the better: now summer knitted fashion comes in bright colors, as beautiful and radiant as a rainbow.
Dimensions: 36/38 (40) 42/44
You will need: 100g fern and 50g each cornflower blue, inky blue, plum, red wine, magnolia, azalea, pumpkin and golden yellow Lana Grossa “Cotone” yarn (100 % cotton; 125m/50g); knitting needles No. 3.5; short circular needles No. 3.5.
Knitting patterns for an openwork dress
Garter stitch. Front and back rows - front loops.
Rhythm of increases/decreases. For the bottom panels and all stripes in garter stitch in the sequence of colors and patterns: in each front row at the beginning of the row after the edge and at the end of the row before the edge from the jumper, add 1 knit stitch. At the same time, decrease 2 loops in the middle; to do this, knit 3 loops with a knit stitch (= slip 1 loop like a knit stitch, knit 2 loops together, then pull it through the removed loop). The number of loops remains constant.
Hole pattern (for 139 (151) 163 loops, including edge loops). Knit according to the pattern showing the front rows. In purl rows, purl all loops and yarn overs. Start with loops before repeat A, repeat A (6 loops) 10 (11) 12 times, decrease loops in the middle 1 time, repeat B (6 loops) 10 (11) 12 times, finish with loops after repeat B.
Important. The oblique structure of the pattern is obtained as a result of lateral increases in loops and decreases in loops in the middle. When decreasing the middle 2 loops at the beginning/end of the row, perform 7 loops + 1 increase each (= yarn overs). When decreasing the middle 4 loops at the beginning/end of the row, perform 6 loops + 2 increases each. Due to the changing loops at the beginning and end of the row (before the repeat and after the repeat), the diagram shows repeats A and B and is highlighted in red for better clarity. The number of loops remains constant.

14 rows with a perforated pattern using azalea-colored thread,
2 rows of garter stitch pumpkin thread, azalea thread, pumpkin thread, azalea thread,
14 rows of holey pumpkin thread pattern = 168 rows total.
Stockinette stitch in circular rows. Knit only knit stitches.
Knitting density. Hole pattern: 20 p. and 34 r. = 10 x 10 cm. Garter stitch: 20 p. and 40 r. = 10 x 10 cm.
Attention. The knitting density of both patterns was measured in the direction of the stitch stitches. Due to the oblique direction of the loop posts on both sides of the mid-front/back line, the dimensions in the drawing are taken from the finished model. Arrow – knitting direction.
Description of knitting an openwork dress
Back. Cast on 139 (151) 163 stitches using fern-colored thread and knit 1 purl row. This series will not be taken into account in further calculations. Next, knit the bottom bar according to the rhythm of increases/decreases.
After 2 cm = 8 rows from the cast-on edge, continue work according to the sequence of colors and patterns.
After 168 rows from the bottom bar (= the end of knitting according to the sequence of colors and patterns), with a golden-yellow thread, cast on 9 loops for the strap, then knit 139 (151) 163 back loops, at the end, cast on another 9 loops for the other strap = 157 ( 169) 181 loops. On all stitches, knit a placket in garter stitch, starting with 1 purl row. After 3.5 cm = 14 rows from the beginning of knitting the bar, purl all the loops.
Before. Knit the same as the back.
Assembly. Sew strap seams and side seams. For the armhole strips along the cast-on edges of the straps, on circular knitting needles, cast on 17 loops with a pumpkin-colored thread, along the edges of the armholes - 65 (73) 81 loops = 82 (90) 98 loops, close into a ring and work 1 cm in stockinette stitch. Then knit all the stitches off.
