Description of knitting a shawl “Begonia whirlwind”
We start knitting with a ribbon on 3 loops.
To do this, we use an auxiliary thread to crochet a chain of 5 air loops, then from this chain we pick up 3 loops with the main thread and knit 176 rows with the front loops alone. We knit the first loop and the last one in all rows!
Having knitted 176 rows, turn the knitting so that the working thread is at the top and cast on 88 loops along the edge, then unravel the chain from the auxiliary thread and collect the open loops on a knitting needle. We have 94 loops in work (3+88+3)
Symbols for describing...
L – front loop
AND – purl loop
N – yarn over
2vpr – 2 together facial with a tilt to the right
2vl – 2 together front with a tilt to the left
3vpr – 3 together face tilt to the right
3vl – 3 together face tilt to the left
2vm purl – purl 2 together
Let's start knitting the body of the shawl.
IMPORTANT – knit the first and last three loops (we also knit the first and last ones)
1st row: (front) – 3l + (n, 1l, n, 2l, n, 3l, 2vpr) = 11 times + n, 3l.
2nd row:(purl) – 2l, 2vr + (2vm purl, 8i) = 11 times + 3l.
3rd row: – 3l + (n, 1l, n, 2l, n, 4l, 2vpr) = 11 times + n, 3l.
4th row: – 2l, 2vr + (2vm purl, 9i ) =11 times + 3l.
5th row: – 3l + (n, 1l, n, 2l, n, 5l, 2vpr) = 11 times + n, 3l.
6th row: – 2l, 2vr + (2vm purl, 10i) = 11 times + 3l.
7th row: – 3l + (n, 1l, n, 2l, n, 6l, 2vpr) = 11 times + n, 3l.
8 row: – 2l, 2vr + (2vm purl, 11i) = 11 times + 3l.
9th row: – 3l + (n, 1l, n, 2l, n, 7l, 2vpr) = 11 times + n, 3l.
10th row: – 2l, 2vr + (2vm purl, 12i) = 11 times + 3l.
11th row: – 3l + (n, 1l, n, 2l, n, 8l, 2vpr) = 11 times + n, 3l.
Row 12: – 2l, 2vr (2vm purl, 13i) = 11 times + 3l.
We continue knitting up to 63 rows (pay attention to the change in loops in each row, I highlighted them)
Row 63: – 3l + (n, 1l, n, 2l, n, 34l, 2vpr ) = 11 times + n, 3l.
64 row: – 3l,1i + ( 2vm, 39i) = 11 times + 3l == 447 loops pay attention to the highlighted edge loops
Diagram of the main body of the shawl
We have knitted the body of the shawl, next will be the edge….
Edge:
We knit all even (purl) rows with purl stitches, not forgetting about the edge of three knit stitches at the beginning and end of the row...

Next, according to the diagram, we close the loops with a crochet... Under the arc it is indicated how many loops to collect together into one loop, above the arcs - how many chain loops to knit...
At the top above the arches there are 8 everywhere, and at the bottom 4 (edge) then 3-2-4-3-4-2-3-3 and then repeat until the end of the row + 4 (edge)
Shawl border pattern
Blocking is the process of giving a shawl a specific shape.
First, soak the shawl in warm water with shampoo or detergent for washing woolen items, then rinse gently and simply squeezing the shawl with your hands (do not squeeze), squeeze out excess water, then wrap it in a towel and also squeeze to remove excess moisture.
Lay the shawl on the surface and straighten it.
Fasten the neck and straight edges of the shawl with tailor's needles and straighten the fabric, stretching it and fixing it with pins.
Watch the leaves in the border so that they lie evenly, straightening them and fixing them.
Having spread out the shawl completely and secured it, we begin to form the cloves on the leaves.
