Men's garter stitch pullover

Finished product dimensions: chest circumference 87 (97.2, 107.3, 117.5, 127.6, 137.8) cm. The recommended increase in freedom of fit is 5.1 cm.

pattern

You will need:

Yarn Knit Picks Simply Wool (100% eco wool, 176 meters/100 g) 6 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11) skeins.

5.5mm circular needles 80cm long and one set of double pointed needles (or the needles you prefer to knit small circles in the round with), or the size needed to achieve the specified gauge.

4mm double-sided needles (or the needles you prefer to knit small circles with in the round), or a size 1.5mm smaller than the main needle.

Additionally: a needle, markers, a piece of thread in a contrasting color or a stitch holder, a loose double-sided knitting needle.

Knitting density:

18 stitches and 28 rows = 10 cm in stockinette stitch in the round using large needles after blocking

18 stitches and 36 rows = 10cm in garter stitch on large needles after blocking.

Garter stitch (knitted on any number of stitches): knit all rows.

Bottom edge (connect two parts).

The bottom edge consists of two parts to form side slits.

Using large circular needles, cast on 77 (86, 95, 104, 113, 122) stitches.

Work straight in garter stitch until piece measures 5.1 (5.1, 5.1, 5.1, 6.4, 6.4)cm, slipping first stitch on each row. Knit the second half of the bottom edge in the same way as the first.

Body.

Place both halves of the bottom edge on one large circular needle, separate them with markers and join the work into a circle = 154 (172, 190, 208, 226, 244) stitches.

1p: facial.

Repeat this row until the piece is 40.6cm high from the cast-on edge.

Wedges.

The wedges form the armpits of the sweater.

1p: *marker, m1, place marker, knit to next marker, repeat from * one more time - 2 stitches added

2p: facial.

3p: * marker, m1p, knit to trace of marker, m1l, marker, repeat from * one more time - 4 stitches added.

Repeat 2-3 rows another 4 (5, 6, 7, 8, 8) times = 11 (13, 15, 17, 19, 19) stitches between markers.

Repeat row 2 one more time, placing the wedge loops on a piece of thread in a contrasting color.

Back.

1p: turn the work, remove 1p, knit along the length of the back to the wedge marker = 77 86, 95, 104, 113, 122) loops.

Repeat this row, continuing to knit straight in garter stitch for another 84 (88, 92, 96, 100, 104) rows, finishing on the right side. Do not cut the thread or bind off the loops.

Before.

From the wrong side, attach a new skein of thread to the right front, knit to the end of the row.

turn the work, slip 1 st, knit to the wedge marker = 77 (86, 95, 104, 113, 122) loops.

Repeat this row, continuing to knit straight in garter stitch for another 68 (72, 76, 78, 82, 84) rows, ending with a wrong side row.

Formation of the neck.

Left shoulder.

1p (RS) slip 1p, 31 (35, 39, 43, 47, 51) knits, turn work. Knit the left shoulder only on these 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52) loops.

2p (IS) ssk, knit to the end of the row - one loop is decreased.

3p (RS) knit up to 3 stitches before the end of the row, k2p together, k1 – one stitch decreased.

Repeat 2-3 rows until 26 (28, 30, 34, 38, 42) loops remain on the needle.

Work another 10 (10, 8, 10, 10, 12) rows without decreasing, slipping the first stitch of each row and ending with a knit row.

Using a working thread, folding the wrong sides together, connect the left shoulder using the three-knitting needle method.

Cut the thread.

Right shoulder.

From the front side, remove a trace of 13 (14, 15, 16, 17, 18) front neck stitches onto a stitch holder or a piece of thread in a contrasting color, attach a new skein of thread and knit to the end of the row = 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52) loops. Rotate the work.

1p (IP) slip 1p, knit up to 3 stitches before the end of the row, k2p together, k1 - one stitch decreased

2p (RS) ssk, knit to the end of the row - one loop is decreased.

Repeat rows 1-2 until there are 26 (28, 30, 34, 38, 42) loops left on the needle.

Work another 10 (10, 8, 10, 10, 12) rows without decreasing, slipping the first stitch of each row and finishing on the right side.

Using the right front working yarn, folding the wrong sides together, join the right shoulder using the three-needle method.

Do not cut the thread. 25 (30, 35, 36, 37, 38) back neck loops remain open.

Collar.

Using a working thread at the right shoulder, on the front side with large knitting needles, knit 25 (30, 35, 36, 37, 38) stitches for the back neckline, pick up and knit 17 (16, 15, 17, 18, 20) stitches for the left front neckline, knit 13 (14, 15, 16, 17, 18) set aside front neck stitches, pick up and knit 17 (16, 15, 17, 18, 20) right front neck stitches, place marker and join work in circle = 72 ( 76, 80, 86, 90, 96) loops.

1p: facial.

Repeat row 1 until collar height is 5.1cm.

Switch to smaller needles.

Repeat the 1st row to a height of 2.5 cm.

Loosely bind off all stitches using stitching method.

Left sleeve.

From the front side, attach the thread to the right side of the wedge. Using large knitting needles, knit the reserved wedge stitches, place a marker, pick up and knit 42 (44, 46, 48, 50, 52) stitches on the left front (each edge loop from the slipped stitches), pick up and knit 42 (44, 46) , 48, 50, 52) loops on the left back (each edge loop from the removed edge loops), place a marker, join work in a circle = 95 (101, 107, 113, 119, 123) loops.

1p: ssk, knit along the length of the wedge loops up to 2 stitches in front of the marker, k2p together, knit to the end of the row - 2 stitches decreased

2p: knit all stitches.

Repeat 1-2 rows until you have 3 wedge loops left.

Next row: marker, k2tog, k1, marker, knit to the end of the row - one stitch decreased.

Next row: marker, ssk, remove marker, knit to end of row = 85 (89, 93, 97, 101, 105) stitches.

Decrease row: k2tog, knit to last 2 stitches, sk-2 stitches decreased.

Repeat the row with decreases in every 4th row a total of 3 (6, 10, 8, 8, 10) times, then knit a row with decreases in every 5th row another 19 (17, 14, 16, 17, 16) times = 41 (43 , 45, 49, 51, 53) loops.

Continue working without any decreases until the height of the sleeve part is 44.5 (45.7, 47, 48.3, 50.8, 52.1) cm.

Cuff.

The cuff is knitted in straight and turned rows. Turn the work, preparing to knit a row on the wrong side.

Work in garter stitch to cuff height of 2.5 (3.8, 3.8, 3.8, 5.1, 5.1) cm.

Close all loops.

Right sleeve.

Knit like the left sleeve, lifting the loops first along the right back, then along the right front.

Completion.

Tuck in the loose ends, wash and block according to the pattern.

Abbreviations:

m1l (m1) - insert the left knitting needle from front to back under the broach between two loops, then knit the broach with the front wall behind the back wall

m1r - insert the left knitting needle from back to front under the broach between two loops, then knit this broach with the front wall

ssk - remove one loop from the left knitting needle to the right one, as when knitting, return the loop to the left knitting needle without changing its position, and knit two loops on the left knitting needle together, knitting the back walls
