DESCRIPTION OF WORK

BACK

On knitting needles No. 4.5, cast on 83 (87:91:99:107) sts and knit 2 cm in garter stitch.

Switch to needles No. 5 and continue knitting in an openwork pattern (see diagram), starting from the 1st point of the diagram.

ARMHOLES

After 30 cm from the starting row, attach markers to the 1st and last sts of the row to mark the beginning of the armholes.

SHOULDER AND NECK

After 48 (49:50:52:54) cm from the initial row, close off 1 x 6 (7:7:8;9) sts for shoulder bevels on both sides, then in each next 2-st. 3 (2:—) x 7 p., – (1:3:1:-) x 8 p., – (:-:2:1) x 9 p., – (—2) x 10 p.  

Simultaneously with the 1st decrease for the shoulders, close off the middle 13 (13:13:15:15) stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

To round the inner edge, close each next 2-m. 2 x 4 p.

BEFORE

On knitting needles No. 4.5, cast on 85 (89:93:109:111) sts and knit 2 cm in garter stitch.

Switch to knitting needles No. 5 and continue knitting with openwork and fancy patterns, distributing the loops as described below: 36 (38:40:44:48) sts with an openwork pattern, starting from the 1st st of the pattern, 13 sts with a fancy pattern and 36 (38:40:44:48) stitches in an openwork pattern, starting from the 2nd stitch of the pattern.

ARMHOLES

After 30 cm from the starting row, attach markers to the 1st and last stitch of the row to mark the beginning of the armholes.

NECK

After 44 (45:46:47:48) cm from the beginning row, bind off the middle 15 (15:15:17:17) stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately. To round the inner edge, close each next 2-m. 1 x3p., 1 x2p., 2x1 p. and in the next 4th p. 1 x 1 p.

SHOULDER SHADES

After 48 (49:50:52:54) cm from the initial row, close for shoulder bevels from the armhole side 1 x6 (7:7:8:9) sts, then in every next 2nd r. 3 (2:—) x 7 p., – (1:3:1:-) x 8 p., – (-:-2:1) x 9 p., – (–:-:2) x 10 P.

SLEEVES

Using knitting needles No. 4.5, cast on 51 (53:57:59:63) sts for each sleeve and knit 2 cm in garter stitch.

Switch to needles No. 5 and continue knitting in an openwork pattern (see diagram). For bevels, add on both sides in each next 38 r. 2 (2:1:-:-) x 1 p., in each next 36th p. – (-:1:2:-) x 1 p., in each next 34th p. – (-:-:-:2) x 1 p. = 55 (57:61:63:67) p.

After 44 (43.5:42.5:41.5:39.5) cm from the initial row, bind off the loops.

NECK TRAIN

On needles No. 5, cast on 70 (70:70:74:74) sts and knit this way: 4 p. stockinette stitch, 1 p. with holes: knit 1, * 1 yarn over, knit 2 sts together, from “repeat, finish row knit 1, then 1 p. purl with purl. sides, 4 r. in stockinette stitch, then bind off the stitches.

ASSEMBLY

Sew shoulder seams. Sew side seams and sleeve seams. Sew the sleeves into the armholes. Sew the binding along the edge of the neckline using a “back needle” stitch from the faces. sides
