Skirt "Valeria"

knitted skirt

Spring dictates its own rules: it’s time to knit light openwork items. And you should start with the skirt!

For this gorgeous flared silhouette, cotton yarn in a noble gray color is perfect.

Model Natalia Levina

Size: L-XL, height 158 cm, skirt length – 75 cm

You will need: yarn (100% cotton, 295 m / 50 g), hook No. 1.3, elastic for a belt 1-3 cm wide.

Attention! Knit the skirt from top to bottom in one piece without seams.

You can knit a skirt of any length and size.

The model has an A-line silhouette, which is formed by an openwork pattern, without buttons and without a zipper.

Note. For larger heights, knit up to the 76th row (pattern 5) or to the required length. In order for the openwork patterns to take their final form and to be able to calculate the length, make a WTO after the 43rd row.

If you are knitting a maxi skirt, repeat rows 31 to 43 again.

Ring chain: knit according to pattern 1.

Openwork patterns: knit according to patterns 2-5.

Connecting 3 arches (diagram 5, row 58): tie 4 air. p., insert the hook under the adjacent arch of 4 air. p., pull out the thread (= 2 p. on the hook) and immediately insert the hook under the next arch of 4 air. p., pull out the thread and knit 3 sts on the hook at one time.

Trim with voluminous picot (pattern 5, row 76): knit under the arch of 7 air. clause 7 art. b/n, tie 3 air. p., “Insert the hook into the 1st of 3 air. p., pull out the thread, yarn over”, repeat “4-5 times, knit all the loops on the hook together, knit 7 tbsp. b/n under the second arch of 7 air. P.

How to calculate the number of repeats for your size: knit a sample on 5 rings of the initial chain, knit the 1st-4th rows according to the pattern, iron the resulting sample, measure the length of the repeat (LR) - 3 rings.

Take measurements along the first row (where the trefoils are).

Pattern repeat (RP) is always equal to 3 rings.

Calculate the number of rings using the formula: FROM: DR x RU.

For example: waist circumference (WT) = 85 cm, DR = 3 rings = 3.5 cm.

We get: 85: 3.5 x 3 = 72. You need to knit 72 rings of the initial chain. If you knit very tightly, then add another repeat, i.e. 3 rings.

Start knitting not by setting a chain of air. etc., but from a “chain of rings”. With this method, the edge of the knitting will be elastic, which will allow you to immediately start knitting pattern repeats, without counting air loops, as with the usual method.

For size ML, knit a chain of 72 rings = 24 repeats. Knit further according to pattern 2 from the 1st to the 20th row. If you are knitting for a larger size or want a skirt longer than 75 cm, knit 22-24 rows of the zigzag pattern, i.e. repeat the 19th row 3-4 times.

Next, knit according to patterns 3-5 up to the 72nd row inclusive. In the 58th row, connect 3 arches in the places marked in the diagram. Perform the binding with a voluminous picot.
